Addie and the Gunslinger by Celia Yeary

38590655

Ooooohhh!!! Jude (swoon -- love that name!!) and Addie deliver an adorable little tale of a man looking for something different out of life and a woman who needs a man to help save her home. Love how they meet and watching the initial sparks flare and grow into something more.

There were a couple of surprising twists to go with the drama, making this quick sweet story lighthearted with just enough excitement to keep your attention.

Kat and the US Marshal by Celia Yeary

17737175

Such a delightfully fun story!!

Diego and Kat have sparks that fly off the page from the beginning. The attraction simmers and grows as Diego works to convince both her and himself that they are it for each other. Toss in some danger with his job and a criminal to apprehend, this short story delivers!!

I simply adored Diego and how he cared for Kat and pursued her. He definitely made my tummy flutter!

Kat was a treasure to those around her and even had a few surprises up her sleeve! She's a girl I'd love to have in my circle of friends.

Angel and the Cowboy by Celia Yeary

12106889

Oh! Such a sweet story and happily ever after for Max and his Angel.

Max knew he was ready to settle down, wanted a wife, but wasn't expecting to find her when he did. But once he saw her, he was smitten and did his best to win her fast!

Dani has some secrets and unanswered questions about her past. When Max shows up and informs her she was going to marry him, she set about finding those answers whole Max could still change his mind. But Max being the true man and gentleman he was, didn't let her fears and worries stand in their way of forever.

This is a sweet story to get lost in for an hour or two of lazy day easy reading, when you just need a little sweet and happy.

With Everything I Am by Kristen Ashley

(The Three, #2)

I am not a typical paranormal/shifter fan, but since this was KA I was willing to give it a try - and saying I loved Cal and Sonia doesn't even scratch the surface of how much I adored this story! Kristen made me feel every single emotion and got me so hooked I never wanted to see it end!!

(side note: you get to see even more of Cal and Sonia in book 3 and I fell even harder for them there!)

Rock Chick Regret by Kristen Ashley

(Rock Chick, #7)

Hector and Sadie's story is a mix of crazy heartbreaking and super sweet! Loved watching these two get their happily ever after. And as with all Rock Chick books, I adore how everyone is all tied in and we get bits and pieces of the groups' continuing heas.

Broken Dove by Kristen Ashley

(Fantasyland, #4)

Heartbreakingly beautiful and sweet story for both Apollo and Maddie. I loved so much of this, even through all the issues they both had to deal (where I just wanted to shake them) with to find their hea.

The Hookup by Kristen Ashley

(Moonlight and Motor Oil, #1)

Happy sigh!! ....and this book is more proof of why I love KA stories and how treasured they can be, gifting us with all the feels and trademarks KA is known to create and share with us.

Absolutely loved loved LOVED Johnny and Izzy!! They just worked so well together! Johnny was all man, but knew how to communicate, and boy, sure knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to pursue it, once he got his head straight. Izzy was just adorable and cute and if I couldn't be her, I want to be her best friend.

The Hookup flowed easy and seemed to be a more lighter of a read, despite the rocky moments and the depth and the emotions and all the good that was included, which makes this story even better! This is on my fav shelf and will be revisited often!

Sommersgate House by Kristen Ashley

(Ghosts and Reincarnation, #2)

Giggle -- Here's a story for you:

(from Jan 23, 2015 post to KA)

So I started reading Sommersgate House for the first time this week. I'm not a huge fan of scary ghost stories. Like, I get nightmares and paranoid reactions... It's a mix of sad and funny really. Anyways, I knew I still wanted to try out your ghost series (it's the only books of yours I've got left to read) I read Penmort Castle and absolutely fell in love!! Plus, no nightmares!! Woohoo!! Let's move to the next book. Great start, no worries... I got to the point in Sommersgate where Julia starts feeling the cold draft.... Again, ok, I can do this, no problem. Then EEEKKK!! she's hearing and seeing a man trying to get in through the bedroom window???? OK so that's a bit scary, but (deep breath in, and out) keep going. It's about midnight, I'm sleepy, but really want to finish the chapter. Just as I turn off the light and roll over, my dogs leap up and start barking!! I sit up fast, look out the window and see a shadow of a man with his arms up!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!! Dogs settle, I try to breathe.... And look again. The light across the street is on, shining through the trees in the front yard, which just happen to form this shadowy type figure against the window with the thick trunk and branches. Whew!!! Boy, this book might just get to me. Haha!!! Despite that, I'm gonna keep preserving through. I'm loving the story! Can't wait to see how Douglas convinces Julia to marry him. Besides him just being used to having his orders obeyed. And anyways, if I'm gonna get scared by something, who better to freak out with than a KA alpha?? Haha!! He can handle me!

Needless to say, I adored this story!! Definitely Kristen Ashley's version of scary ghost stories are ones I can enjoy even while totally freaked out! haha!

Jagged by Kristen Ashley

(Colorado Mountain, #5)

Enjoyed this story much better the 2nd time than the first. (think I was too jaded from the reviews when this was first released) While I did miss some of the community/world building (shorter story for KA) and this was more based in a neighboring town where you got to see more of the people from The Gamble (instead of Carnal), Ham and his Cookie totally won me over and I fell in love with the big burly man and his woman! So much to smile and swoon and cheer over! Loved how when Ham figured out that Zara was his... that was it. He wasn't going to let her go anymore!

Rock Chick Reawakening by Kristen Ashley

(Rock Chick 0.5)

Amazingly awesome story for Marcus and Daisy!!! I loved spending the last 2 days (yes, because I didn't want to rush through it, I took 2 days to enjoy it!) I missed some of the length/detail I've enjoyed getting from KA, however, the shorter story didn't fail to still provide all the feels and fuzzies I've come to expect. Watching Marcus handle his Daisy with care and love and see their HEA from beginning to end melted my heart! Loved being in Daisy's head as she's learning all the truths she imparts to the Rock Chicks in the future. And Marcus is so the original Hot Bunch guy - lip twitches and demands to move in asap and all!

Even though this is a prequel of sorts, I think people will enjoy reading it after reading Rock Chicks series and a handful of her other books. There were so many fun cameo appearances packed in from so many places! Reading it first, you may miss some of them.

Law Man by Kristen Ashley

(Dream Man, #3)

After the 2nd and 3rd reads, (which just that I was wanting to reread it says something), Mitch and Mara's story moves much higher up on my list of fav KA books. At first, Mara's constant pushing Mitch away and refusing to believe him kinda irked me, but then other things clicked with me and I found myself in Mara's shoes and her story instantly clicked for me! I loved seeing Mitch insert himself into Mara's life and how they bonded over Billy and Billie. So many sweet moments and of course, the epic-ly beautiful epilogue that just makes your heart happy!!

I love the part in Mystery Man how Gwen describes Mitch's name and how it fits him -- still makes me melt because he totally lives up to that!

Wild and Free by Kristen Ashley

(The Three, #3)

Absolutely loved this conclusion to The Three series!!! Getting to meet and fall in love with Abel and Delilah, seeing Lucian and Leah, Callum and Sonia, and seeing Yuri meet his love - every bit of this story was amazing!! I have yet to not experience every emotion when getting lost in a KA world.

I'm not a huge fan of paranormal books - however I highly recommend Kristen's The Three series.

Own the Wind by Kristen Ashley

(Chaos, #1)

Absolutely loved Shy and Tabby's story!! I adored how once they got together, that was it! They knew they were it for each other and they worked through any hurdles they faced, whether it was something that came up between them, or from outside sources. Their devotion and love and passion was beautiful to experience. So many deep feels!!

Loved getting to be in the Chaos world and visit with several favs from Dream Man and Rock Chick series!

I loved them the first time I read this in 2014, and I think I'm even more in love with Shy and Tabby from this latest reread.

Soaring by Kristen Ashley

(Magdalene, #2)

Absolutely loved Mickey and Amy's story!! Totally swept me away and I wasn't ready for it to end!

Three Wishes by Kristen Ashley

A gorgeous story filled with heart mending beauty, laugh out loud quirks, and a sigh worthy love story. Also contains one of my most favorite intense scenes in a KA book.

Every Year by Kristen Ashley

Chaos, #2.5 in A Christmas to Remember anthology.

This was the only story I've read so far from the anthology. It's an additional scene that goes along with Own The Wind, detailing Shy and Tabby's first Christmas together. Knowing their story, this deeper glimpse into such a heartbreaking and yet heartwarming time of their lives, healing from the past, was extremely beautiful. So glad KA took the time to share this with us. Shy and Tabby are among the top favs of her characters and any extra moments with them are loved!! And really, getting Christmas with Tack and Tyra? Can't say no to that either!!

Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley

(Fantasyland, #1)

When a girl who isn't a fan of fantasy type books discovers KA wrote a fantasy series and takes a chance, she falls hard! Or maybe, it's because Frey and Finnie were just PERFECT and their story was exactly what I needed to read - fun, adventure, a touch of tears, lots of laughter, and just an easy, long, enjoyable read! I didn't want to leave this world at all!!

Lady Luck by Kristen Ashley

(Colorado Mountain, #3)

Ty and Lexie!!! The way these two fit together and survived the drama... wow!! Loved most every moment in the book and it started out with a BANG! Love how these two got together and how they just *worked*.

Creed by Kristen Ashley

(Unfinished Hero, #2)

While I adore this book and how KA wove together Creed and Sylvie's story, it also weighs heavy on me with the depth of intensity and history they have together.

One of these days, I'll be strong enough to reread it, because even though it's (to me) a heavier read, there's a beauty behind it too.

Bounty by Kristen Ashley

(Colorado Mountain, #7)

*shuts kindle cover, looks up, slowly exhales.... smiles deep.... dials hubby*

-Yeah, babe?
-You know that feeling you get when your world has just been completely and utterly rocked by an amazing book and you're feeling so so much it's overflowing you and you just, just, just can't, just don't even know what to do with yourself, and yet at the same time, no one surrounding you really realizes just how much your world has changed?
-*pause* Can't say that I have, babe.
-Well, I just finished Kristen Ashley's latest book and that's how I'm feeling right now. I just don't know what to do with myself now. I really don't.
-*pause* You're such a girl.
-*giggle* That I am.

Thank you, Kristen Ashley for an amazing story that rocked my world! Deke and Jussy gave me a delightful escape that was easy and beautiful and exactly what I needed right now. Before I was a third of the way through I knew this would end up being one of my top favs (as most of the CM books are) and by the end, that was cemented in. Yes, there was drama, yes, there was danger, yes, there was sisterhood and family and loyalty, and all that other good stuff.... but there was so much... more. It was easy. Deke and Jussy lived out the title - their story? Just simple bounty!

At Peace by Kristen Ashley

(The 'Burg, #2)

This was one of the first KA books I discovered and boy, did it hook me and make me an addict!!

I mean, this is Joe! And Vi and the girls with Joe?! (swoon!) I've absolutely have fallen in love with Joe and his girls and how they gave Joe what he needed and then he in turn gave them exactly what they needed. I adored "buddy" and when I learned the story behind how that came to be, I loved it all the more.

This book has some of the most intense scenes that keep hitting me hard every time I read it, even though I know it's coming now. Doesn't matter, I still get gutted. That just makes this all the more epic of a story!

(and I love how in The Promise we get even more of Joe and Vi's story!)

Knight by Kristen Ashley

(Unfinished Hero, #1)

This was one of the first anti-hero books I've read, and if this is how they work -- I'm game! This is also the first KA book I read -- talk about diving in the deep end!

I loved how Knight and Anya met, and then how their relationship just worked and grew! I rather liked that the story focused more on them as a couple and set up some of the story-arc through the rest of the series, and that it wasn't drama/suspense driven either. While parts of their relationship pushed my comfort level (I was warned!) it worked for them and it ended up working for me!

Raid by Kristen Ashley

(Unfinished Hero, #3)

This is my favorite of the Unfinished Hero series -- maybe because Raid is a ex-soldier (and that plays a more significant role in this story) or because Hanna is just so awesome and small-town down to earth? Either way, this is my most re-read and enjoyed out of the whole series.

I love how cute and sweet and Sussie-Home-Maker Hanna is, and I love how big, dangerous, strong, and determined Raid is. Love the family dynamics and the bit of adventure and cameos included. There was also some body-image encouragement/themes included that really, really touched my heart, so maybe that's another reason why this one is special.

For You by Kristen Ashley

(The 'Burg, #1)

The Burg series is one of my top fav KA series - with Colt and Feb's story staying super close to my heart!

Getting to be a part of Colt and Feb's 2nd chance at love was a mind-blowing trip! The drama, the suspense, the conversations, the emotions, the intimate moments - all of it put together was amazing. I've yet to meet a KA couple who didn't make me fall in love with their story and *feel* deep down every emotion from the highest highs to the lowest lows right along with them.

Rereading this story fully for the 2nd time made me fall even more in love with Colt and Feb. I was able to pick up on and understand things better, why they did/felt the way they did.

Kristen Ashley is an amazing story teller and this is not a book to be missed!

Breathe by Kristen Ashley

(Colorado Mountain, #4)

Short and sweet review -- Chace and Faye's story was amazing and even more so the 2nd time around. Love how Faye is so sweet and cute and goofy and innocent, but yet has a backbone and is willing to not let Chace walk all over her. Chace -- well, loved everything about the man -- his honor, his strength, his heart. And this story contains 2 of my favorite scenes: the famous Aslan moments with M and the last "Breathe, baby" moment when Faye is rescued. While it's not my most favorite of the Colorado Mountain series (Tate and Laurie still own that spot hands down), it's definitely a story not to be missed!

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley

(Dream Man, #1)

Pretty unique story line (could I do what Gwen did for 1.5yrs?!) but once things started happening, WOW, hang on tight! I loved watching Gwen and Hawk get together and their epilogue was PERFECT!! I also really enjoyed the world set up and getting to meet the guys that become the heroes in the rest of the series - and while I do really enjoy this story, after getting to see Brock's, Mitch's, and Tack's stories, I almost love seeing them show up in this book more - oh and Elvira??? I wanna keep her and woohoo -- awesome that we get some extra stories from KA for Elvira!

Play It Safe by Kristen Ashley

Oh my!! I just finished my 2nd read of Grayson and Ivey's story and I'm convinced this is one of my top favorite KA books. No doubt. Although each one is a fav while I'm in that world, this one touched something deeper in me.

There's so much good in the story, from how their relationship grew and survived all the horrors that they faced to all the joy and beauty they fought for and won. So much beauty! And several surprises are thrown on making it all the better for these two. I love the entire town of Mustang and the ranch setting.

KA can most definitely write a cowboy story to fall in love with.

Hold On by Kristen Ashley

(The 'Burg, #6)

Oh my goodness!! I read the first few chapters then decided to save the rest for Labor Day weekend where I could binge and not worry about being sleep deprived (too badly). So worth the wait - especially because I'm at a loss of words for how I feel. Basically:

I *loved* Merry. Always have since we first met him. And I loved Merry for Cher.

I *loved* Cher. And I loved her for Merry.

I absolutely adored Ethan!!

I felt everything! I laughed so hard, I cried so hard, I swooned, I sighed, I hurt.

The epilogue: killed me. Perfection!

Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley

(Colorado Mountain, #2)

Oh my goodness! I cannot count anymore how many times I've revisited Carnal with Tate and Laurie! They definitely hold a top 3 position of fav KA books. I can't help but be totally swept away and enthralled in their story every time I crack it open, whether to read the thing cover to cover or revisit favorite scenes.

Tate is awesome in his alpha-ness -- bossy, kinda jerky (but he excels at making that part worth it), but yet, he knows how to protect and provide for his woman. I really connected with Laurie and how she needed to find her special and be herself. The two together are just awesome -- and the world KA wrote around them, I never want to leave - the friends, family, co-workers, the town -- everything!

I'm also very excited and intrigued to get Wood and Maggie's story!!! There's something pretty special there!

Rock Chick Revolution by Kristen Ashley

 (Rock Chick, #8)

Nice wrap up to the Rock Chick series.  While this wasn't my favorite of the series, there were lots of favorite moments included (especially Luke and Ava's wedding).  Ren's pursuit of Ally was pretty fun to watch, especially when the misunderstandings finally got straightened out.

KA Extras

More Pleasure than Pain (Chaos, #3.5)
Just perfect. Happy tears.

Valentinos (Chaos #4.5)

More Elvira!!
Just pure happiness within Chaos/Dream Man world.

Merry and Bright (Dream Man, #4.1)
Absolutely adored the short story of Elvira meeting her man! Wow can KA write a story that gives you the laughter, drama, and epilogue you come to expect, all delivered in a few short pages! Love getting to see Elvira meet her man!!

Law Man Short Story (Dream Man, #4.2)
GO CUBS!
haha! I was always with Mara on being a Cubs fan - and I was right with her on the win.
Totally sweet and perfect short story with Mara and her family.

Rock Chick Redux (Rock Chick, #8.5)
Fun little extra epilogue for Ally and Ren. Love!!!

Complicated by Kristen Ashley

May 14, 2017

Just finished and am so overwhelmed by the awesomeness I've just lived and breathed for the last week or so while in McCook county NE. Complicated is *everything* I love about a KA book and more. I felt every little thing and reacted to it all out loud: giggles, tears, anxiousness and fear, delight and happy sighs. I was as invested in every plot line, whether the murder mystery or the romance of Hix and Greta, or the handful of other threads included. I fell in love with the kids (goodness, KA can write some awesome kids!) and with Andy. Greta and Hix settled deep in too, with everything that was them. I enjoyed that more of the story was told from Hix's pov, but we still got what we needed from Greta to fully round out the story.

Complicated is the perfect kind of complicated I love to escape into. I'm beyond thrilled with what KA gifted us with when she shared Hix and Greta with us. I can't wait to not only listen to this again (loved the narrators!) but experience it again in November when the ebook is released.

May 3, 2017

oh. my. GOSH!

I'm not even to chapter 4 yet and I'm already absolutely LOVING THIS!!! Hix has totally stolen my heart! Goodness!! OLD SCHOOL KA!

It's different listening to a book I haven't read yet, but I'm finding myself still able to get lost in the story and completely enjoying it!

~~~~~~~~~~
This is just for me, wanted to keep it as it was kinda another review, but didn't want to try to mash it up above.
Kristen, I finished Complicated this afternoon and have to say... I LOVED it! It's got to be in my top 10 (if not 5... or maybe even 3) fav KA books. I simply adore Hix, Greta, and the kids and Andy. Stories like this are what fill me up and give me the perfect escape and reminders of the nuggets of truth you share in there: family, communication, love, determination, strength, beauty, hope, and more. You also gifted me with all the emotions I love to be overwhelmed with, making me literally laugh out loud, cry, smile, squee, desire to swoon (since I listed alot in my car, thankfully no literal swoons were to be had), tense and grit my teeth (my masseuse will thank you next week whenever I go in and she tries to unknot all the knots I tangled up. hehe!), happy sighs, and more. Book hangover for sure! Thank you so much, for giving us Hix and Greta's story. I couldn't have asked for a better book to escape into this last week. Pure beauty: simple and as uncomplicated as that.
Fire Inside by Kristen Ashley
(Chaos, #2)
Loved the story the first time I read it in 2014 - and I LOVE it even more today!! Despite all the back and forth they both gave each other exactly what they needed - it was honest, it was real, it was love. Hop was definitely the perfect man for Lanie, knew he would have to help her work through her head and be her shield. Lanie gave Hop the family and home and comfort he desperately searched for.
Fantastical by Kristen Ashley
(Fantasyland, #3)
Loved getting to watch Tor and his true Cora fall in love! Each time I reread through this series I have to just accept that whatever book I'm in at that moment is my favorite. So many feels and so much goodness! Love this alternate universe KA created!
Games of the Heart by Kristen Ashley
(The 'Burg, #4)
Loved getting to see Mike finally find his girl and watch how they build their family. Dusty was a delight and Mike made me swoon (well, after he got his head out of his butt). This one definitely was more family oriented as we see how Dusty's family work through her brother's death and Mike navigates through raising his kids with a not so great ex-wife. Plus we get a little side Story watching Fin fall for Reesee (sigh! Love that KA gave us that little extra goodness).
and any book that gives a peek into Joe and Vi's lives... well, that is just the sprinkles on the icing on (Tess') cup cakes! :)
Penmort Castle by Kristen Ashley
(Ghosts and Reincarnation, #1)
Love, love, loved it!!!
Felt every emotion from giggles to groans, from fear to laughter, from heartbreaking tears to heartwarming tears!!
Definitely a new KA favorite.
Golden Trail by Kristen Ashley
(The 'Burg, #3)
Loved getting a KA book that's all from Layne's perspective. Kind of a nice twist - plus always being in Layne's head allowed me to fall for him harder, and feel his struggle and highs/lows as he worked through getting Rocky back and helping her beat back the darkness that stole her from him years ago. I adore 2nd chance stories, and this fit my tastes beautifully. Watching them work through to their HEA, and getting a fun dose of awesome kids (and Joe and Vi and their girls) was pretty sweet. The epilogue: stinking amazing!! KA writes amazing epilogues and this is one of my favs!
The Will by Kristen Ashley
(Magdalene, #1)
love love LOVE Josie and Jake's story! Add in the awesome kids and poof! My heart is gone!
I adore how Josie and Jake get involved and grow their relationship. Mix in the rest of the crew/town/friends and Jake gettin' all alpha and then his fights? Yup, Jake owns my heart, no doubt!
One of my top fav KA books (shoot, aren't they all almost like that!)
Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley
(Chaos, #3)
Joker and his Butterfly!! Loved this story!! Joker was a bit of a different kind of hero for KA, but I still was swooning over his badass biker awesomeness. I loved how Carissa was a mix of sweet and sassy (quickly growing into her) biker chick. I enjoyed how the drama was dealt with and how even though they were younger (mid 20s) characters, they still had a maturity to work through things and deal. Definitely a great addition to the Chaos series!! And after getting a small taste of High -- I am super excited to get his story next!!!
Oh and it's totally worth it to get your hands on the bonus chapter for Chaos (on KA's website) -- totally swooned and cried happy tears!!
Kaleidoscope by Kristen Ashley
(Colorado Mountain, #6)
Jacob and Emme's story stole my heart. Seemed like an easier book to read and settle into - and just as magical and satisfying as needed.
The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley
(Fantasyland, #2)
I've lost count as to how many times I've re-read this story. There's just something about it that keeps drawing me back in over and over again! Maybe it's the hard, heartbreaking, unimaginable way Lahn and Circe's relationship starts, and the breathtaking journey to their HEA that just does it for me. It's such a different, out of this world land that makes me want to be there and experience (well most of) it with Circe and Lahn! Definitely a favorite!
Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley
(Dream Man, #4)
I'm on my up-teenth reread (or re-listen) to Tack and Tyra's story and I just keep getting hooked deeper and deeper. Their real, their journey, their hea - all of it fits them perfectly and I'd not want it any different!
_______________
I love love LOVE immersing myself into the Chaos world! This is the only motorcycle club book (which turned into the spin off series) that I like -- something about how KA built the world and just made it click for me did it!
I have adored Tack since we met him in Mystery Man with Gwen. And then throughout the entire Dream Man series -- and then when we finally get his and Tyra's story??? Tack stole my heart!!
I love everything about this -- from the attitude, to the bossiness, from the kids to the family, and from the fight Chaos has to deal with to how everyone comes together at the end (read the book and you'll REALLY get that!). I have so much of this book highlighted and I love rereading it and listening to the audio version as well (although Tack sounds different in my head than how the narrator chose to express him).
Until the Sun Falls from the Sky by Kristen Ashley
(The Three, #1)
I'm not a fan of paranormal, but I adore KA books, so I was willing to give this a try - and I'm glad I did!! While it took me a bit to get into the world she created, once I was there, I was there!! I wasn't always a fan of how Lucian or Leah handled things, but after my 2nd re-read I understood and was more open to what was going on. Love their story - and as the series goes on, I fell even more so in love with Lucian and Leah.
Wild Man by Kristen Ashley
(Dream Man, #2)
If we don't count the expected favorites (Sweet Dreams/Tate, At Peace/Joe, Motorcycle Man/Tack), I'd have to say, Brock and Tess's book is my top fav KA book - and over all books I've read, definitely in the top 5 of favs. Maybe because I identify so well with Tess. Maybe because all the drama in the story comes from outside sources and Tess and Brock just work so well together (relationship wise). Maybe because they're a bit older. Maybe because Brock is.... (sigh) Brock! All alpha-man amazing. No matter how you look at it, I get swept away by this story each time I revisit it (which is often!). I never get tired of Brock and Tess's story.
Rough Ride by Kristen Ashley
(Chaos #5)
I stinkin' loved Snapper and Rosalie's story! They definitely started out on a rough ride, but overall, their relationship seemed easy - most of the drama came from outside the two of them, so they really just had to hold hands and ride out the trials together - and that "easy" was so nice to experience.
That drama outside of Rosalie and Snapper?? Omgoodness, my heart is pounding hard considering what's happening and what's in Chaos's future! eeek!
Overall, I adored this Chaos book, and I'm looking forward to rereading through the whole series (Motorcycle Man included) over the next couple of months to refresh my memory on everything (because, well... read the book and you'll get why!!) and prepare for Hound's story in July. But just sayin.... that one moment between High and Rosie??? (sniff sniff, happy sigh) That did something to my heart. I love these Chaos men!!
Fairytale Come Alive by Kristen Ashley
(Ghosts and Reincarnation, #4)
I loved it and it delivered on all the emotions I love to experience in a KA story!! Definitely not one to be missed!!
Rock Chick Rescue by Kristen Ashley
(Rock Chick, #2)
I liked Jet and Eddie's story better the 2nd time around - and the audio version of this totally brings the story to live and makes it ROCK for me! I'm alot like Jet in some ways, but in other ways not so much, so maybe that's why I struggled at first because I'd not have responded the same and it was a little of a challenge to reconcile that. But make no mistake, I love the Rock Chicks and their stories are always fun to revisit. Eddie definitely had his hands full with Jet, and like with all Rock Chicks, I loved watching the men pursue their women.
The Promise by Kristen Ashley
(The 'Burg, #5)
I enjoyed getting to experience Ben and Frankie's story. It was different enough from the rest of the KA books that it gave you a new taste, but yet it was still clearly a KA story, with all the feels and emotions and beauty you've come to expect.
I loved seeing how Frankie's view of herself changed, and how she realized how she looked and felt about herself was way different than how others saw her (well, the others who truly mattered). That realization, along with seeing it reflected in other people (Joe towards is girls, Luke towards his girls, etc.) was beautiful to watch bloom - both in her and (hopefully) in yourself as a reader.
As much as I loved Ben and Frankie, I absolutely *adored* getting more of Joe and Vi's story. To me it completed their HEA beautifully! Oh and when Mr. Luke Stark showed up?? Swoon! :)
One Winter Knight
My Forever Love by Cheryl Pierson
Logan and Noelle's story warmed me up on a cold winter's night! They were selected for each other in an arranged marriage that both initially faught against. But then after meeting, Logan fell in love with her, while Noelle wasn't aware of everything going on around her. Sweetness and excitement carry through to their happily ever after.
*rest of stories on my tbr list
To Marry a Texas Outlaw by Linda Broday
 (Men of Legend #3)
Whew! What a story! Good thing Linda Broday didn't struggle to find words for her story the same way I'm attempting to find words to express just how much I love not only this book, but this entire series as a whole. To Marry a Texas Outlaw is a thrilling conclusion to a delightful and much-loved story of the Legend family that delivered so many emotions.
Josie and Luke are simply perfect for each other! From the moment Luke encounters Josie the sparks and laughter and disgruntlements abound. As Sierra and Lara before her, I was able to connect with Josie and feel her struggles as she's also falling for Luke. But that girl -- she's somethin' alright -- and that something had me laughing and knowing that in real life, I'd want to be her best friend, just to see what she comes up with next and soak up every bit of life with her! Luke unquestionably has his hands full with his vulnerable spit-fire of a woman. And Luke? Oh that man! He can steal me away with him anytime! He's got such love and loyalty and honor that lives deep within that he has no problem pouring out on those around him but yet struggles to see within and accept for himself. Everyone can see it -- but stink he's a hard-headed man! Luke may have been an outlaw, however that wasn't who he really was - and watching him fully understand that was a remarkable journey.
The twists and crimes to solve kept me entertained and guessing. The secondary characters melted my heart as they also provided some wisdom and comic relief at the most ideal of times. And getting to catch up with the entire Legend crew -- LOVED it! Stoker, Sam, Houston and the rest truly lived out FAMILY.
This trilogy, while definitely all are standalone books, reads almost better as one big epic story and you just don't want to miss a single moment of any of it.
The Cowboy Who Came Calling by Linda Broday
(Texas Heroes #2)
These McClain men.... Oh do I fall hard for them. Luke was amazing in his devotion, his determination, his care and attention to Glory, her family, and the situations surrounding them. Almost to a fault. That poor guy! But he embodied his beliefs and his love wholeheartedly. I adored him 110%.
Glory both had my affection and drove me nuts with her stubbornness. Her strength and her ability to never give up or give in were hugely admirable. I just wish she would have saved both her and Luke some pain and frustration by choosing to let him in earlier than what she did - although when she redeemed herself to me, she did it huge! She sure made Luke work hard to win her over. Her grit and determination to survive no matter the trials put before her was amazing to watch her survive and thrive through.
I was super excited to see Duel and Jessie make an appearance, and the help they so generously shared warmed my heart.
I appreciate how some issues with Glory were dealt with, and how Luke showed a love stronger than most in helping her with those issues.
If you're a fan of historical westerns, if you love a lawman, if you love it when the heroines aren't physically perfect (but to their men, they are), this is a story you don't want to miss.
The Heart of a Texas Cowboy by Linda Broday
(Men of Legend #2)
The Heart of a Texas Cowboy is one of my top favorite of Linda Broday's books - from the very beginning I knew it was gonna wiggle it's way deep in my heart and it most definitely did.
I absolutely adored Houston and Lara's story, being with them as they found their strength and peace in each other. This is a beautiful and heart-twisting story and from the moment Houston reached for Lara's hand their connection sparked and continued to strengthen despite their fears and desire to protect themselves. I loved how they continued to take steps closer to each other and push through their walls to be vulnerable to the other and talk/communicate!
As I've discovered Linda Broday tends to do, the ending supplies some intense twists and turns, which serves to highlight the strength of the characters. With these particular twists, I love how it all worked itself out.
Twice a Texas Bride by Linda Broday
(Bachelors of Battle Creek, #2)
Rand and Callie's story took me on an adventure that captured my heart from page one and refused to let go till I reached the end - and I still didn't want to leave them yet!
Rand is very much confident in himself (believes he knows his mind) and once he decides what he wants (even if he doesn't realize deep down he's doing it or why he's doing it), he does whatever it takes to get it -- even being ever patient and gentle with Callie. Loved watching him fall for Callie and open his heart to her.
Callie..... Callie was a lady filled with beauty, even if she believed she was damaged. While she kept thinking she was beyond repair and on her own (mostly), she also fell under Rand's protection and bloomed brilliantly.
The twists and turns in the drama/action part of the story kept me biting my nails and anxiously awaiting good to win. And while you know it ultimately will (HEA after all!), the journey to get there was rocky and sometimes scary. But that just made it worth it all the more!
Watching their family grow warmed my heart. The themes of family in Linda Broday's books have touched something deep in me -- they bond together not because of blood, but because they just choose to. They build a family that works. And I love seeing how this theme is carried through.
I've discovered another favorite book by Linda Broday that will be treasured and reread often.
To Love a Texas Ranger by Linda Broday
(Men of Legend Book 1)
Linda Broday has written another story that found it's own special little corner of my heart - and on my favorites shelf.
The instant spark connecting Sam Legend to his Sierra provided just the right setting for a surprisingly slow, sweetly growing bond between them. Despite each having their own set of struggles and fears that needed healing and delt with, deep down their walls crumbled instantly once finding each other. Even though they both (Sam especially) took plenty of time to acknowledge how much each one truly needed and completed the other. The journey Sam and Sierra took me on reminded me of a mix of the lazy river ride and white water rapids - there's moments of just happy easy going warmth, and then moments filled with turbulence, rocks, and unexpected waterfalls. Be prepared for the unexpected as you're being woo'd by the sweet.
Loved getting to meet the Legend family and get hints of the next books in this series (Houston and Luke's stories). Looking forward to what comes next!
Knight on the Texas Plains by Linda Broday
(Texas Heroes Book 1)
Duel, Jessie, and Marley Rose quietly snuck into my heart and nestled deep in this beautiful story! These three lost and lonely individuals found the love and comfort in each other, creating a family all their own. There's so much beauty that flowed from the pages from all the characters - even including Luke, Pops, Vicki, and others, that I felt overwhelmed with it -- and it's just what my heart needed while escaping into this book.
Marley Rose is such a sweet little girl who stole my heart with how she became the first chain link to unite Duel to his Jessie. She also provided many giggles with her love for her goat and dog.
Jessie was such an intriguing mix of vulnerability and strength. She wasn't weak and destroyed despite her horrific past. Duel provided her with the space and grace she needed to recover, along with a comforting hand up, to get back on her feet - before he swept her off her feet, of course!
Duel was a surprise for me. His tender heart was exposed first in how he immediately claims Marley Rose and Jessie under his protection, but then his presence flowed off the pages. I love how he's a quiet man, but yet, under that quiet, there's a powerful intensity that you don't want stirred in a bad way -- but oh, once that intensity was riled in a good way, I got butterflies in my belly!! Well, and honestly, watching that same intensity when he was protecting his women was a sight to behold!
This story provided all the feels I like in my books and will be treasured and revisited often.
Forever His Texas Bride by Linda Broday
(Bachelors of Battle Creek Book 3)
Great end to an amazing series
Loved watching Brett fall in love with his Rayna and learn that he deserves a family (more than just his brothers) just as much as any other man and that Rayna learned that she's just as worthy herself. Their journey to their hea was filled with trials and struggles, both within themselves and from without through evil and prejudice. The struggles were quite overwhelming and felt unending, but goodness finally wins. The epilogue was a sweet wrap up of the series.
The Bridesmaid by Tanya Hanson
26890930
Kinda twisted, kinda forbidden, kinda freaking-me-out, The Bridesmaid by Tanya Hanson was a blast to read. I actually read the blurb and marked this as tbr, and then a few days later was digging around my book lists trying to find that one book about that one thing (you know those book worms) - and The Bridesmaid ended up being it! I immediately dove in and got lost in Lyddie and Gardner's story. Dreams vs reality -- desire vs honor -- it all gets twisted together before it unravels and then.......
What's cool is this book gave me more book worms about those awesome gothic type stories I read in high school (from the adult book side, of course!) and made me go digging around trying to find my favorites.
I'm looking forward to experiencing more of Tonya Hanson's stories.
Jungle Love by Sheri Fredricks
34739733
(Jungle Island Book 3)
Delightful ending to Tarzan and Jane's story.
I enjoyed this final glimpse into island life for Tarzan and his Jane.
The vivid details injected though every page brought this story to life, plopping me on the island and experiencing every touch, brush, and sigh of the land and inhabitants.
While there was a moment of shock or two embedded into the story, it is a fantasy story and flowed with the world Sheri Fredericks built for her jungle couple.
Don't miss this wrap up of the Jungle Island series! The whole book especially the epilogue delivered a beautiful hea for the king of the jungle and his queen.
Forever My Jane by Sheri Fredricks
32420114
(Jungle Island #2)
Yay! The next chapter to Jane and Tarzan's story! I was so looking forward to seeing how Tarzan would protect his Jane from the bad mans and whatever other threats that arise. And of course, I was anxious to see how much Jane has adapted to being Tarzan's jungle mate. I wasn't disappointed!
Sheri Fredricks can weave a fun tale that pulls you into the story and makes you experience the jungle atmosphere. Despite it's short length, you feel satisfied that you experienced a full story.
Now, to see what trouble Jane gets into next! ;)
Lord of the Jungle by Sheri Fredricks
30751135
(Jungle Island #1)
When I got this book, all I knew was the cover demanded my attention (something about the green wild look to it, the intense but slightly hidden look from her and the protective blocking of him), and the blurb definitely intrigued me:
Shipwrecked on an uncharted island, Jane is rescued by a wildman and learns the true meaning of Jungle fever.
Huh.... alright! Let's crack 'er open and see where I venture off to!
I had to pause a couple chapters into it. I was enjoying myself but wasn't feeling as quite deeply embedded in the story as I had hoped. I paused and realized 2 things:
1. I needed to remember this is a fantasy story and let my imagination flow with the story (I don't normally read fantasy type stories so this was a new mind-set I needed to embrace).
2. If this is a fantasy and anything goes, why couldn't I react the way Jane was? Yeah, I sure could... and would.
Once I allowed myself to let go and enter a fantasy world... I was caught in Tarzan's arms and didn't want released! I really enjoyed seeing their connection and how some things were just nature and raw and instant and wild. I was cringing seeing that I was getting closer to the end because I wasn't quite ready for their story to end yet!!
This is a novellette - so there's a cliffy ending (and I'm BEGGING for their HEA soon!! and I was informed it won't be too long of a wait for the 2nd part! Good thing!).
This was my first Sheri Fredricks story and it won't be my last.
Sweet Texas Christmas anthology
36519834
Sweet Texas Christmas is a fun, light, easy to read set of Christmas happily-ever-after short stories that just make you smile.
I adored Santa's Secret -- such fun to see Audra and Grady dance around each other and finally figure out they're meant to be. 5 stars
Kidnapping Kalli. Haha! Loved it and how these two met and fell in love. Adventure abounds and sweetness made my heart smile. Shiloh and Kalli's story gave me the excitement and the sweetness I love to read. 5 stars
Miss Miller's Molasses Cookies: cute story, lighthearted, not alot of depth. The "drama" keeping James and Josie apart kinda seemed to be missing something and didn't make me really fall/like either of them that much. 3 stars
A Christmas Visitor - Another cute story! Matilda was almost too stubborn and prideful for her own good, and Sterling for a moment (or two, or three) made me so mad! But then I kept going and when I fully learned what he did, it made sense and I forgave him quickly. haha! Second chance love story. 4 stars
The recipes at the end are a sweet (haha!) touch and funny enough, we have a treasured family cookie recipe I made earlier today that is almost exactly like one of the recipes in the book. Someone's family has great taste! :)
Beyond the Fire by Cheryl Pierson
34210070
What a intriguing, adrenaline filled, swoony read! It started with a force of a point blank shot and didn't let go!
Kendi is a sweetheart, who's just needing to truly get back on her feet and have someone have her back and her front after all the punches life has thrown at her. I wanted to hug her close and be the best girl friend she needed. Jackson needed some lovin' snuggles too (which I'd gladly provide, btw), reminders that he's survived this long and to grab hold of the angel in front of him.
There were some pretty intense moments, with a very surprising twist in the middle that made the story all the better (eventually - it was rather hairy there for a minute!). This is definitely a story I was glad to discover and experience.
Always and Forever by Cheryl Pierson
25598786
What a cute short story!! I love reading about older couples finding love again and building a new hea that they never thought they'd get. Gage and Cindy had a case of insta-love that solidified quickly. For a short story, I was able to feel their attraction to each other, which made the quick-y escape read all the more enjoyable. Add in two cute kids and this story melted my heart.
A Heart for a Heart by Cheryl Pierson
25607781
This is a sweet quicky insta-love story perfect to entertain for an hour or two.
I love reading short stories that still manage to give me a connection to the characters and not just fill the pages with lust. This story delivers!
My favorite moments? The first time Sam holds Kiera in his arms and then later, their first kiss. Both are sweetly real (read: almost awkward before the spark) and just sweetly perfect.
The Devil and Miss Julia Jackson by Cheryl Pierson
36478212
The Devil and Miss Julia Jackson is a sweet, adorable story of a rough and tumble rancher who finds his hea with a prim and proper southern belle. Devlin is struggling with moving on from the loss of his first wife and daughter, just keeping it barely together for his toddler son, when Miss Jackson and her (surprise!) niece arrive in answer to his search for a caretaker for his son. And thus begins a tale of falling in love, choosing and giving forgiveness, learning to trust, and finding the happily ever after that was meant to be. And let's just say, it wasn't uneventful despite the snow quickly piling up! Several twists and turns keep you on your toes as Devlin and Julie grow closer to each other and build a family.
This is a sweet and adorable little tale that provides a feel good easy read many readers seek out at Christmas time! Don't miss it!
Outlaw's Kiss by Cheryl Pierson -
23820266
Sweet little Christmas story with threads of forgiveness, love and new beginnings. Jake finds his way back to his girl and discovers he can have a home and love.
These Rough Dreams by Cheryl Pierson
25969655
Oh!!! I think I have a new favorite Cheryl Pierson short story!!!! This is my 3rd Johnny lead character this year and Johnny Rainbolt swept me away like the other two before him.
These Rough Dreams worked because even though it felt rushed, Johnny and Gabby's relationship was an answer to prayer neither even knew to ask for. They were both open and accepting and honest from the start with each other, which allowed for some easy moments before greater trials arrived.
Loved it!!!
A Marriage of Convenience: Mail Order Bride by Cheryl Pierson
31550414
Oh my goodness! Talk about a story that hooked me from the first page and sucked me in deep and swept me away fast!!! Oh did I love getting to experience Rocky and Melanie's hea!! So much so, I want more, please!!! Haha
Rocky was shocked at the surprise that was waiting for him at the station. Melanie is searching for a safe haven and is rocked by her own surprise. But these two, they just worked together so well, and their chemistry sparked from the first innocent touch. Rocky was the best kinda hero, protective, honorable, and strong, as well as smart (he struggled a little, but realized quickly what a treasure he just found in Melanie). Melanie, while being sweet and vulnerable, also had a gentle and wise spirit, and a backbone to compliment Rocky.
I fought against finishing the book as quickly as I did, because I didn't want it to end!! And there were a couple awesome twists towards the end that just made this story perfect! I absorbed this in one sitting because I just couldn't walk away. Loved it and will definitely be rereading it again!
The Kindness of Strangers by Cheryl Pierson
21766805
I wasn't sure what I was expecting with this short story when I started it, but getting hooked immediately wasn't it. Why? I couldn't tell ya, but my attention was captured to the very end. Maybe because it's not a romance story, really, and that's what I normally read. But thinking on it more.... This story had its own brand of romance.
Jericho lost everything precious to him, and the depth of his despair brought tears to my eyes. He's on the trail of revenge, but encounters a stranger who kinda questions his plans and makes him think.
I can't share much else without giving away the ending, but it's beautiful with its lessons learned and the future discovered. I could continue to imagine what happened further along for Jericho. Love that this story also gave you something to think about, a deeper meaning to things.
If you're looking for a quick enjoyable read, grab this book.
One Magic Night by Cheryl Pierson
24039613
I used to not be a huge fan of short stories/novelettes, but I adore insta-love stories when they're done right. Then I discovered that Cheryl Pierson knows how to deliver the kind of insta-love story I need and do it condensed into a novelette. I simply needed to let go and just fall into the story and believe that anything is possible, and that forever-love can be found and claimed in a single night (and allow my imagination to flow).
Katrina and Shay have a huge hurdle to jump over: prejudice in the town because of his Indian blood. But from the first glance, these two knew they found their missing halves. Throw in a little family drama, a little town gossip, some old-fashioned morals, and a little bit of glowing magic, and you got yourself a magical hea night.
Plus, knowing there's a little bit more of history to the story than just the author's imagination (think real life, people!) made this even more of a treasured read.
Fire Eyes by Cheryl Pierson
22014427
Fire Eyes swept my heart away in an insta-love kinda way with Kaed and his Jessi's insta-love happily ever after story and has earned a place on my favorites and to-be-reread shelf.
This story is packed full of intense feels, nail-biting twists, and swoon-worthy moments. It starts out in such an violent way that you can't help but be hooked into discovering what happens next. I found myself horrified by the torture, tearing up from the care, and happy-sighing because of their strong connection. There's themes of family, inner-strength, and loyalty weaved throughout, as well as a pretty sadistic bad guy story line that honestly gave me the shivers! eek! Oh, and a few minor plot lines that were just the sweetest little pieces of goodness.
Kaed and Jessi gave me one of my favorite kinds of book escapes, making me fall in love with both of them.
I'm so glad my friend encouraged me to pick up Cheryl Pierson's stories. I'm looking forward to discovering more of her books.
Capture the Night by Cheryl Pierson
25845170
Capture the Night is like Die Hard on steroids.
Sorry, Ms. Pierson, I have no clue how (or if) you truly described what Johnny looked like, because no matter what you said, this is my Johnny:
description
Nice. :)
Anyways!
Capture the Night shares the tale of a 24 hour period when a terrorist takes over a hotel and really, just makes life horrible for everyone who was unlucky enough to be the focus (or not) of his diabolically twisted grand plan of..... hmmmm..... evilness. So many surprises and twists and trying to figure out who's the good guy and who's the bad guy, and who's gonna survive and who's gonna end up shot keep you guessing till the end. But gently woven into this tale of terror is a few sweet themes of trust, loyalty, family, and love. Johnny, through pure chance happens to find Alexa, who turns out to be not only his saving angel, his rock, but the love of his life. Alexa wasn't expecting to discover an injured man on her last night of vacation, but she also wasn't planning on getting swept into a dangerous life-but-most-likely-death situation either. While Johnny and Alexa's relationship had kind of a insta-love feel, you could feel the naturalness of it growing out of an intense situation and the roots sinking deep enough to survive beyond whatever their night brought them. You also can feel the love of family through the story, and of sacrifice and a desire to be worthy and a true hero.
This is a great story for anyone who loves action adventure and still wouldn't mind it if the guy gets a girl. Intense, gritty, and heartwarming - Capture the Night delivers!
The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride by Kati Wilde
36501409
What a DELIGHTFUL surprise I got when I cracked open this book! (tapped open??? guess if I cracked my tablet screen it wouldn't have been nearly as delightful).
I've not read a fantasy/medieval type of story in years and landing in Kael and Anja's world to journey with them to their hea became an obsession where I couldn't put down the book. Their dance around each other was tension filled in the best of ways, despite the misunderstandings. But once the walls between them cracked a little, watch them tumble!
I also was thrilled with this story because of how deeply I experienced the world. It takes a special kinda of story and writing to make me EXPERIENCE the scary, the intensity, the strength, the power of the emotions and events. This story did it in spades!
But you know what also struck me as special about this story? There were beautiful nuggets of truth scattered among the pages that hit me in the gut - and I hope everyone was affected as I was and take them to heart, because the true magic that was shared -- that's something we all need to embody.
“Love and kindness are the most powerful of all magics—and not only for the one who gives, but also for whom the magic is bestowed upon. So love is nothing to dread or fear.”
I'm really hoping that Kati Wilde continues to expand upon the fantasy world she created because I want to go back!
The Shepherdess by Jill Eileen Smith
25929710
(The Loves of King Solomon, #2)
Sweet story of Abishag and how she came to the palace as first King David's wife, then became Solomon's wife. Again, Ms Smith has me intrigued by the details she weaves into the real biblical account and helps bring the story more fully to life by what might have been. I look forward to reading more of her stories and then turning around, as she's led me to do ready, and digging into the Bible more to get more of the story.
The Desert Princess by Jill Eileen Smith
17742870
The Loves of King Solomon, #1
I've been looking for something different, something more uplifting and thought provoking. The Desert Princess definitely did the trick and got me out of my reading rut!! I had forgotten how much I enjoy Bible based novels and this one was a great one to get back into the genre with.
Despite it's short length, I totally connected with Naamah and Solomon - their young love and how quickly the reality of being a princess married to a King-to-be came crashing in. I felt every conflict Naamah had with facing that reality and was intrigued and pleased to see how Solomon responded to her and their marriage.
This, as other biblically based stories, made me reach for my Bible to get more of the story - and allowed me to picture more details as I read.
The Queen of Sheba by Jill Eileene Smith
34555328
 (The Loves of King Solomon, #4)
Thought provoking
It's hard for me to read of kings who fall in love with multiple wives, as growing up we're taught, one man, one woman. JES wrote her Loves of Solomon series in such a way that while I struggled with it, I also saw the possibility and beauty behind it.
This story was different as Nicuala, the queen, was woo'd by Solomon, and had a totally different role to play in life, rather than a princess used for political alliances. This gave her a whole unique approach to Solomon and their relationship.
Dead By Midnight: An I-Team Christmas by Pamela Clare
(I-Team #7.5)
So I really struggled with starting Death By Midnight right away. I didn't want the book to end, I knew once I got started I wouldn't want to stop reading it, I know how much blood, sweat and tears Pamela Clare and her crew put into it, and I wanted to honor that amount of time and work and not have my part of it rushed. So I downloaded it yesterday and walked away. Went to bed late and figured with it being so late, I'd skip reading.... Then changed my mind, and cracked open my Kindle and eyed Marc's cover.... And tapped... And the rest is history!!
This is such a beautiful story that sucked me in and delivered all the feels!! I was laughing, I was crying, I was hiding under the covers in fear, and I was turning the fan up higher to cool down (whew, did it get hot!!)!!
I love Marc (oh my goodness!!) and his Sprite (they're still my top fav couple, with Zach and Natalie being right behind them), and of course the rest of the gang!! I enjoyed every moment of catching up with everyone and seeing the connection and bonds they've built. This novella is an absolutely totally perfect way to end this series! Perfect high note!
Someone said this was like ITEAM meets Die Hard - and I totally agree!!
So even though the book ended too quickly for me, I'll be rereading this story often! Now that is even more a compliment to an author!!
The cameo appearance of Kaylea Cross's HRT guys was a blast!
Skin Deep by Pamela Clare
(I-Team, #5.5)
Pamela Clare is one of my top favorite authors! Every story she creates she sucks me in and holds me tight! I don't think she could possibly write a book I didn't love!!
Nate and Megan's story is one of the sweetest and more beautiful stories in this series. Watching how they turn to each other and help heal each other's brokenness is beautiful and so deeply touching!
And the fun little short story at the end (Beer Run!) is a hoot!
Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare
(I-Team, #3)
Pamela Clare is one of my top favorite authors! Every story she creates she sucks me in and holds me tight! I don't think she could possibly write a book I didn't love!!
Marc and Sophie. Hunt and Sprite. This book was the first PC story I read and I fell head over heels for Marc. Even though I love and adore each of Pamela's stories, Hunt and Sprite are my top favs. Period. End of story! haha! Pamela wrote one of the most beautiful and perfect prologues ever and the story just kept getting better and better! I was trapped inside this world and didn't want to leave!! The trials and journey these two experienced to keep each other was amazing and hard and beautiful!
Breaking Point by Pamela Clare
 (I-Team, #5)
Pamela Clare is one of my top favorite authors! Every story she creates she sucks me in and holds me tight! I don't think she could possibly write a book I didn't love!!
Zach and Natalie's story is one of my favorites in this whole series. The trials and journey these two went through to find each other and keep each other is amazing and hard and beautiful!
So many other reviews detail the story better - but I just had to share my love for Pamela's story!!!
First Strike by Pamela Clare
 (I-Team, #5.9)
Pamela Clare is one of my top favorite authors! Every story she creates she sucks me in and holds me tight! I don't think she could possibly write a book I didn't love!!
Definitely want to read this before (and after) reading Striking Distance. This is the extended prequel that sets up Javi and Laura's relationship.
Be prepared either with a fan or some ice cause this is one HOT story! Love how Pamela pushed her boundaries here but yet kept it true to her. And the heart-breaking emotions at the end - wow!!!
So many other reviews detail the story better - but I just had to share my love for Pamela's story!!!
Striking Distance by Pamela Clare
(I-Team, #6)
Pamela Clare is one of my top favorite authors! Every story she creates she sucks me in and holds me tight! I don't think she could possibly write a book I didn't love!!
Javier and Laura's story definitely ties as a favorite in the series! The trials and journey these two went through to find each other and keep each other is amazing and heartbreaking and beautiful! There's things in this story that many people had issues with **SPOILER**Laura having and giving up her baby and then not having any more children with Javi.*** but I understood and even loved and appreciated!
You definitely want to read First Strike before (and after) reading this book. First Strike is the extended prequel that sets up Javi and Laura's relationship.
So many other reviews detail the story better - but I just had to share my love for Pamela's story!!!
STEAL by Mayra Statham
35049356
(Right Men Series, #2)
One of the best books I've read this year, as far as grabbing my attention and not letting me go, and surprising me with twists when I'm sure I have it figured out.
I have a soft spot for alpha male heroes who see their woman and don't let go. And who can be bossy. Oh, and who are cops. Haha. Bryan was this 110%. I also have a soft spot for sweet, vulnerable, but yet strong and sassy (in a cute way) heroines and Val fulfilled this. The drama was mostly from outside sources and they knew how to talk, again, something I appreciate more and more in my books.
I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's stories.
Between Love and Lies by Jacqui Nelson
(Gambling Hearts #1)
This book is one wild ride! Noah and Sadie definitely had some hurdles to jump through to get to their happily ever after. Sadie was one strong, stubborn woman, determined to keep her web of lies in tact but not realizing that in some ways, she was sabotaging herself in the process by not truly trusting herself, or Noah. Noah had some ghosts of his own he had to deal with, and then when he realized the depths of his desire to protect and rescue Sadie, both from outsides sources and herself, boy, did he have his hands full trying to juggle it all! I enjoyed watching them fall in love and how they both truly cared and tried to protect the other, even to a fault. I understood why Sadie kept trying to keep her secrets, but I do wish she trusted herself and Noah earlier - it would have saved her some heartache. I liked how Noah kept trying to figure out how he could keep Sadie in his life, but sometimes in his desire to do things right, I think he also handed himself some heartache he didn't really need. Overall, I enjoyed my time in Dodge, getting to see who the real heroes were, seeing Sadie fulfill her promises and having good win over all, and watching two people who truly needed and love each other make it through to their reward.
Quick, dirty talkin', fun, easy read, despite my irritation with some of the drama. Act like the adults you are supposed to be, people.
Paradise Found by Sarah O'Rourke
38742935
Overall, I really enjoyed Ben and Sami's story -- I love second chance stories and the beauty that comes from lessons learned and the joy from restoring what was lost.
There were several sweet and fun moments wrapped up in this story. I totally fell for Ben! Once he discovered the truth, his determination and belief that he could set things right for both of them was overwhelming.
I had a hard time connecting with Sami. While I understood her response to the situation and what she did/was doing to try to give Ben everything he wanted, the way she went about it was hard for me to take. When they both finally got on the same page, it made my heart happier.
I haven't finished reading all of the books in their Passion In Paradise series and knowing there were quite a few cameos (like the Sheriff!) made me want to make sure I go back and check them out!
(Passion in Paradise, #0.5, #1)
I picked this up for a weekend read and man, did I absolutely fall in LOVE!! I was totally transported into the 1960s world - and darn if I don't want more! Except for maybe 1 other book, I don't remember seeing any others set in that time frame and I adored the mix of modern and yet old fashioned. Jethro?!?! Man, did I love being in Orla's shoes and having Jethro come after me, well, after that first initial jerk reaction!
Definitely a fun read and I look forward to going back to the rest of the Paradise books.
The Widow by Lynn Winchester
(Dry Bayou Brides #3)
Absolutely loved it!!
Leo and Missy stole my heart with their story! I've been searching for awesome blacksmith stories for a while now and this totally fit the bill -- Leo definitely filled the blacksmith image. For being a sweet/clean book, the steam rolled off the pages. I enjoyed watching them work through their issues and get the hea they both deserved!
Reese by Lori Handeland
(Rock Creek Six, #1)
I first read this book years ago and this year decided to do some rereads of favorite historical western books. The Rock Creek Six series was one of the first ones added to my to-be-reread list. The 2nd read was just as good, if not better than the first!
I loved watching Mary find the courage to track down Reese and convince him that her "everything" was worth it. Then when the hired guns arrive in Rock Creek and do what hired guns do?? Better watch out! Lori Handeland and Linda Devlin did an excellent job of world building - I felt drawn into the story and clearly saw the town brought to life around me, filled with all sorts of characters that one can't help but fall in love with - or hate!
I adored watching Reese and Mary fall for each other and find their happily ever after. So sweet and beautiful! They both had an inner strength that complimented each other well.
I'm looking forward to reading through the remainder of the series again!
Withering Hope by Layla Hagen
Absolutely adored this!! Once I started I couldn't put it down till it was over! And the epilogues at the end?? MELT! Overwhelming happy tears!! Was looking for something a bit different and this delivered! I loved how Aimee and Tristan’s story developed and their relationship grew.
Daxton by Julia Goda
(Cedar Creek #3)
Fun, short, insta-love story between Emersyn and Daxton. Loved how they were able to connect so fully and quickly (and in a way I could feel and believe!) and help each other begin to heal and let go from their pasts.
This is one book that I'd love to have had it be longer, just because they both really touched my heart, but it also worked out well being short and still giving me the feels I love to get! Plus, with this being part of the Cedar Creek series, who knows!? Maybe I'll get more glimpses of them in a future book!
Hot SEAL by Lynn Raye Harris
(HOT SEAL Team #1)
Awesome story! I love 2nd chance stories and as an introduction to Lynn Raye Harris's HOT series, this definitely made me want to go back and experience the rest.
Loved how Dane pursued Ivy and fought to win her back. I liked how Ivy was strong and able to take care of herself, just wish she didn't fight with Dane so much about his need to protect her (but I'm kinda partial to distressed damsels who have an inner strength that shines through). The sparks answer heat between these two, wow! Needed a fan! I also enjoyed watching the bad guys get caught, that part of the story was not lacking.
So glad that my book club picked this to read and I finally got it off my tbr list and got to fall in love and see what I was missing out on. Definitely a LRH fan now!
(The MacKenzie Family #8)
OH!! I loved Declan and Sophia's story! Action/adventure, spicy heat, and family loyalty fill every page. Declan is all swoony protective and bossy and Sophia is a pleasant mix of tough and soft.
I'm slowly pickin' and choosing my way through the MacKenzie family books and keep finding myself swept away into their world with each book I pick up.
Amazing, beautiful, heartbreaking and heart pattering. Loved it!!
A Mail-Order Dawn by Janelle Daniels
(Miners to Millionaires #6)
What a sweet, delightful and fun story! I was looking for something easy and sweet to read to help get over a book hangover and this was exactly what I needed! The relationship between Tom and Rosalie bloomed quickly (and still believably) and had just enough sparks and heat to help keep the blizzard away! Just enough misunderstanding to keep the story entertaining, but yet they could still talk and got on the same page rather easily. (a welcome relief, btw!) I'm definitely marking this as a favorite to be revisited and am looking forward to discovering more heas for the rest of Ivan's mail-order brides!
Rachel and the Hired Gun by Elaine Levine
(Men of Defiance, #1)
While I didn't read the MOD series in order (I actually read Leah's book first (book 3) and fell in love with Elaine's writing there), once I discovered Eleaine's series I had to go back and get them all - and I'm so glad I did!!! I absolutely adore Rachel and Sager's story! I couldn't put it down once I started! It's one of my fav historical books ever! I love watching the two fall in love. There were so many sweet moments, tense moments, and just enough drama to keep it exciting, but not so much I was rushing through it. I have lost track at how many times I've read and reread this book!!!
Cherish - Catherine Anderson
Absolutely LOVED Race and Rebecca's story! Race is one of the kinds of men I adore falling in love with in books - alpha strong, but with his woman he can be gentle and sweet. And Rebecca - I found myself in her sweet and innocent shoes, experiencing her terrors, her moments of strength and finding herself, and falling in love with Race right along with her. They definitely are perfect for each other and give the other exactly what they need the most.
This book will be reread often and has a home on my favorites shelf!
Cheyenne Amber - Catherine Anderson
15808654I adored this story!! Laura and Deke warmed my heart and delivered laughter, swoony moments, bossy moments, intensity, and an emotional journey - but all in the best of ways.
Catherine Anderson is quickly becoming a favorite author!
Comanche Moon - Catherine Anderson
Comanche book 1
Hunter and Loretta's story totally enthralled me and swept me away back to 1800s Texas. Once I got started and captured in the story, it was very disorienting to be jerked back into real life whenever I had to put the book down! So, I didn't step away from their story often if I could help it. :)
Hunter and Loretta both had heartbreaking pasts, which explained their struggles in their relationship at the beginning with acceptance and trust (well, and he kinda-sorta kidnapped her, that doesn't help matters much. haha!). And while I understood where they both were coming from, my intense feeling of both their struggles and fears and heartache was crushing. I so needed to see them to their happily ever after, even if just to ease my heart as well! Each step closer to them realizing the love they had for each other, and the trust and patience the other needed was a balm - and I'm so glad that both seemed to learn quickly enough, even though sometimes it wasn't quick enough for me (but it was right for *them*). Watching the prophesy come to pass was a bittersweet beautiful and tragic journey, one that as much as I wanted to see their destiny come to pass, I was also fearful of how it would arrive.
This is a book that'll stick with me for a long time. Definitely one for my favorites shelf!
Hard to Handle by Jennifer Lowery
22053630
(Sawyer Sisters Trilogy #1)
If you like Romancing the Stone or the Indiana Jones movies, you'll probably enjoy this sweet, romantic adventure story.
I loved watching Amelia's courage, determination, and inner strength bloom throughout the story. Every challenge she faced, she did it head on, proving to herself who she really was. Brody swept me off my feet with his protectiveness, his caring, and his growing desire for Amelia. He had many demons to face and he also proved his worth by facing and defeating them.
I'm looking forward to learning Amelia's sisters' stories - and hopefully see a bit of Amelia and Brody's future carried over there as well.
Fighting for Forever by JB Salsbury
(Fighting, #5)
Fighting for Forever is JB Salsbury at her finest!! I think this is my favorite book of her's to date, and that's saying something seeing my intense love for her fighters and their women- especially Jonah and Raven (Fighting for Flight) and Blake and Layla (Fighting to Forgive/A Father's Fight)!
I took all week after it was released to slowly savor their story -- and I'm so glad I did. It was amazing, and I definitely didn't want to reach the ending too quickly! I just wanted to stay submerged in their world as long as possible.
I fell for both Mason and Trix hard. Their interactions and relationship grew so beautifully. J.B. delivered on all the feels: giggles, swoons, growls, tears, lack of breathing.... Every time I turned the page I felt something deeper and stronger. You go into the story with one idea, start reading it and change your mind, then throughout keep realizing that there's a few more twists and turns to discover.
Mason and Trix's story is definitely not one to miss!!
A Father's Fight by JB Salsbury
(Fighting, #4.5)
Yet again, J.B. Salsbury has totally encompassed me into her world and given me nuggets of goodness to bring back.
This is an amazing follow-up and new HEA for Blake and Layla!! JB pulled all sorts of emotions from me - from laughter to tears, from anxiousness to joyfulness! The love and strength Blake and Layla hold for each other is overpowering.
This is a beautiful story you do not want to miss!! I couldn't have asked for anything better!!
Fighting the Fall by JB Salsbury
 (Fighting, #4)
Wow! I'm still at a loss for words on how much I loved this book! JB Salsbury succeeded yet again in pulling and twisting my heart strings in all directions!!! I sunk deep into Cam and Eve's story and didn't want to be let out. Watching and experiencing how their story unfolds, with all the heart ache and smiles just did me in.
I also enjoyed how this story fit in with the rest of the series and gave us glimpses of our other favorite couples.
Fighting to Forget by JB Salsbury
 (Fighting, #3)
Jamie's done it again!!! She's sucked me into her UFL world with Fighting for Flight and Fighting to Forgive and I don't want to ever leave!! Finally, after a long (to me) wait, she's drawn me back with Fighting for Forget and yet again, I don't want to leave.
Rex and Mac/Gia both broke my heart in so many ways - I was already crying and emotionally broken before the prologue was over!! This story has a totally different feel than the first two books in the stories. It touches on some deep issues that I think while we know about them, we don't always consider how the evil affects others. Jamie provides just enough details about Rex and Mac's history and emotional struggles that you feel everything they go through and want to just hold them both close to protect and comfort them.
I loved being there as they finally got together and started building their relationship - and I broke about half way through. There is a beautiful HEA, but the journey there is crazy hard. Add in a few interesting twists that I wasn't expecting and the story is complete!
This book has a permanent place on my favorites shelf. Love it, love it, love it!!!
Fighting to Forgive by JB Salsbury
(Fighting, #2)
After reading Fighting for Flight and meeting Blake, I couldn't wait to read his book and glad I didn't have too long to wait.
Jamie continues to create a detailed UFL world and keeps me hooked in deep from the first page to the end. You can tell how real these characters are to her and see how much she loves them and teaches us to love them just as much!
Layla captured my heart from the beginning - I couldn't imagine living through what she experienced and staying as strong and put together as she was - and raising a daughter on her own. My heart broke for Blake's childhood history, but it made him grow into the man he was, so despite the pain, it was worth it. Blake's protective instincts and his desire to take care of Layla and her daughter catches early and doesn't give up, even when it appears to.
I love watching how Blake and Layla learn that they need to forgive others as well as themselves to be able to move forward and allow healing to happen. There's some deep issues touched on here, along with some great truths (love and forgiveness) that's expressed hand-in-hand with the romance story. This made me feel so many emotions as I was reading it.
Yet again, Jamie's written a book that'll remain on my favorites shelf and be re-read over and over again!
Fighting for Flight by JB Salsbury
 (Fighting, #1)
I wasn't sure whether I'd like a book about a MMA fighter, but this book intrigued me (along with the book cover - it definitely caught my eye). I'm so glad I took the chance because I've fallen in love with the world that Jamie created around her UFL guys and the girls they claim.
Jamie drew me into the heart of the story from the first page and kept me involved through to the end. I didn't want it to end!
Jonah and Raven are two of my favorite characters ever. Jonah's devotion to Raven and how he worked through his fears in having a real relationship and how he took care of Raven was beautiful. Raven's sweet honesty, her vulnerability and her strength shined through every page. I loved that they talked through their misunderstandings and that they worked through things instead of letting the drama fester and turn into something overblown.
This book will stay on my favorite shelf and be re-read often!! I strongly recommend if you even *think* you might be interested in it, just start reading! You'll be addicted too!
