Capture My Heart by Rosanne Bittner

34604614

Rosanne Bitter continues to capture my heart with each new story she writes, and I find myself always wanting more, never wanting the story to end.

Capture My Heart takes us on Two Wolves and Claire's journey to their happily ever after, fighting prejudice, lies, evil, and even their own hearts for a time. I loved Two Wolves - his attitude and strength in knowing who he is and what is true and right, and proving to Claire and himself over and over again, he's the man for her. Claire had an inner strength that complimented Two Wolves and she quickly found herself by his side, the perfect match for him. As I often find myself when reading RB books, I was swept away by the love story and then later I would be peeking through my fingers needing to know what happened next, but yet, not wanting them to have to experience the scary and bad stuff - although without all that, we'd not see how they came through the other side, stronger and more in love than ever.

While the historical setting made my heart ache, RB delivers a history lesson about our American West in an enjoyable way. I can't help but hurt seeing that even after all these years through to today, the same hatred and prejudice is well and alive today.

Mystic Dreamers by Rosanne Bittner

(Mystic Dreamers #1)

This was my first all Indian pov story and I loved getting to put myself in the tribe and fully see life from the inside out, watching how their way of life was slowly being upset - from customs to daily life. Like many of Rosanne Bittner books, I get a history lesson along with the love story and this book kept both pretty balanced. Looking forward to book 2 to see what is in store for Buffalo Dreamer and Rising Eagle.

Prairie Embrace by Rosanne Bittner

This book surprised me with how much I ended up falling in love with them! Katie and Tohave meet while Katie is married to an horribly abusive man. Tohave can't fight the need to rescue and take care of Katie, nor can she fight the pull Tohave has on her heart. What a journey these two took to get to their hea - but so very much worth it! Another Rosanne Bittner fav!

Comanche Sunset by Rosanne Bittner

This is another favorite story by Rosanne Bittner. I really liked the unique story line with Wade and his Indian family (plus the education I received about the Comanche beliefs) and how through his journey, Wade not only gained more understanding about his Indian blood, but he became a better, stronger man through it too. His attitude and acceptance of dealing with prejudice and hate was to be commended - but if you push....just...too...far.... *watch out*! Loved how he met Jenny and how sweet and quickly their love grew -- nothing felt forced, and although it was quick, it still felt natural to me. I adored Jenny and her mix of feminine strength, spunk, and sweetness. Her heart was so open - it was a good thing Wade was there to capture her heart!

So much of the story enthralled me I couldn't slow down at all! I just had to know what happened next!

Mystic Visions by Rosanne Bittner

 (Mystic Dreamers, #2)

The continuing story of Rising Eagle and his Buffalo Dreamer and the trials and triumphs they face - wow, it steals my breath! There were so many times of struggles and pain, watching from the inside out as the west was settled by white man and the Indians struggled with how to adjust. But for as many struggles, there were also so many heartwarming moments of beauty and honor and trust and love.

The Touch of Love by Rosanne Bittner

(Mystic, #2.5)

Sweet little novella that gives us a glimpse into the life of Spirit Walker now that he's all grown up. Love watching how he meets and falls in love, and wins his Becky. It is a great additional peek into the characters from the Mystic series that I wanted to know more about!

Loved getting a look at Eve's (from Full Circle) mother's relationship with Wild Horse. Maggie's strength and determination was beautiful to see. Wild Horse's spirit and wisdom went above what I expected. Loved seeing how their love for each other stayed innocent and beautiful. I loved seeing how Maggie's relationship with her preacher husband had the opportunity to grow and improve.

Reading this prequel to Full Circle made me want to reread it - which I did! Love getting another amazing Rosanne Bittner story!

Cynthia and Red Wolf had much to overcome before they could get their hea. Loved how they finally connected - my heart broke when they were torn apart, and I loved watching them finally make it back to each other's arms. Another Native American story that I just loved!

Mystic Warriors by Rosanne Bittner

(Mystic Dreamers #3)

As Rosanne Bittner is known for, she educates along with entertains in the last book of the Mystic Trilogy. Watching history unfold through the personal lives of Rising Eagle and his Buffalo Dreamer, you learn a new way of looking at your reality. I enjoyed watching their family grow, hurt with their trials, and rejoiced in their triumphs. This book, well, the whole series really, made me feel deep and left me with a pretty big hangover. Always a good thing!

Savage Destiny book 7

Really, you MUST get all 7 books in the Savage Destiny series and fall in love with Zeke and his Abbie!!! My heart felt every emotion possible with these two - I cried, laughed, stressed, rejoiced, cheered, worried along with them. When a book/series can do that, you *know* they're the best! If I could only keep one set of fiction books, this would be it, hands down, no hesitation!

While I always enjoy reading how a couple gets together, I *love love LOVE* the romance and story that follows the HEA/wedding. I think that's another reason why I so enjoy this series - it didn't just stop at the wedding - we get to experience all their joys and struggles through their married life - but yet how much stronger their love grows over time.

I was relieved to finally get to this book. My heart had been so involved with the Monroes that I was glad to have a final conclusion to their story. I loved that the final chapter in their saga ended years beyond the wedding and we got to see a glimpse into their family's future through the grandkid's lives. I was saddened with all the struggles and tragedies that still were prevalent in this family, but yet the strength of their love-bond proved unbreakable. I loved that there was several new happily-ever-afters for many. I just wish that it didn't take so long for Abbie to be reunited with Zeke at the end, but hey, I've noticed that RB tends to do that to my fav characters - make 'em wait for what they really want! :)

I finished reading this series this last spring and am looking forward to starting to read through this series again and again! Although, with as much as my heart tends to be involved with Zeke and his Abbie, I'll need to take extended breaks between visits.

I'm not going to lie. I had to travel the weekend I finally got to this 6th book and I knew that there was going to be a huge good-bye in it that was going to make me cry. I figured I probably should pay attention to the people around me and not have my nose stuck in a book, but that's what I did... I found a couch, planted myself on there and read all day... and hid my face as best as I could when the sobs came. OYE! I had to laugh because I don't think I've ever been as attached to a set of fictional characters as Zeke and Abbie and here I was literally sobbing over them!!! Thankfully I was surrounded by people who while they did tease me about my tears, let me be to work through my emotions and finish the book.

Huge props to Rosanne Bittner for writing this story. I can totally understand her comments she put on her website how she was so emotionally involved with the Monroes that after finishing this book she needed to step back. I knew after finishing this series I'd have to do the same thing!

While there were parts of this story I loved, this was one of my least favorite parts of Zeke and Abbie's story. More often than not I was wanting to reach through the pages of the book and knock Zeke around! GRRR! I mean, I get what he was thinking, but UGH! Did he *have* to be that stubborn about things??? Although the last chapter of the book won me back over before I just wanted to chuck it across the room! And all the problems with the kids - oye! My heart cried for all of them - I mean really, going through all that in that short amount of time would definitely break a person and their relationships.

This 4th book was a bit harder for me to read - not because of the writing itself, but I was starting to have a feeling of what may just happen to Abbie that Zeke wouldn't be around to save her.... While I desperately wanted to know what happened and how Zeke and Abbie worked through it, I wasn't wanting to get close enough to find out! My heart by this time in the series was very much involved and I didn't want to go through what Abbie was going to struggle through... but I did, and Zeke's over-flowing love for Abbie couldn't have been more needed or perfect!

This 3rd book is one of my favs in the series - once I started reading it, it was a struggle to put it down and sleep/work/eat... :) How Zeke and Abbie deal with one of the most challenging struggles married couples could ever face both broke my heart but proved that really, love and forgiveness and understanding and acceptance all are of part of making a real-life (fiction - ha!) marriage work.

Another thing I love about this series is the American history Rosanne Bittner gently teaches us. I've always loved history, but hated reading the dry text-book type things. However, RB makes learning history enjoyable because we can experience it through Zeke and Abbie's eyes. I learned so much about the American Indian/Cheyenne culture and my heart broke to really realize how much prejudice people have for one another - and how quickly that can affect lives.

These first few years of Zeke and Abbie's lives was a mix of such joy and hardship - but they proved together how much they need each other!
