A Flare of the Heart by Jacquie Rogers

28007849

Looking for some giggles and sweet story to enjoy? Then grab up Celia and Ross's story and get ready to fall in love!

These two meet under some rather adventurous circumstances and giggles abound while sparks fly and hearts awaken. I adored Ross and how he was still all bad-boy tough guy and with how he treated Celia. Celia proved that she was the perfect match for him, being both strong, but yet soft for him.

This is an adorable little story to spend a couple hours with -- just wish it was longer! (haha! isn't that the truth more often than not!)

A River’s Bend Duo by Tracy Garrett

25945113

Wanted: The Sheriff
Martha and Matthew's story quickly grabbed my attention and kept me hooked in their story, even though I wasn't fully intending on starting it right at that second! But once I got started, I didn't want to stop! Matthew's the town sheriff and was quite an attractive mix of manly-lawman and considerate-gentleman. Martha was a charming mix of innocent and brazen - just enough to keep Matthew on his toes around her. Watching their dance to fall in love left me smiling sweet.

No Less than Forever
We first meet Franz and Rebekah in the previous story and you can tell right away that there is something special between them. Rebekah's past breaks your heart, but she proves there's strength behind her vulnerability as she heals both physically and emotionally. Franz is the ideal man for her, with his compassion, his gentleness, his understanding, and his attention. Their journey to their hea is filled with heartache, but then turns a corner and gifts you with a quiet beauty all its own.

This is a charming duo of stories based out of River's Bend, both quick, easy reads. Tracy Garrett excelled at capturing my curiosity with the secondary characters as well, leaving me delighted that there's more stories from River's Bend to discover.

The Second-Best Ranger in Texas by Kathleen Rice Adams

23930057

OHH!! KRA is quickly becoming one of my fav authors -- and so far I've just read her shorter stories. I can't wait to see how she sweeps me away with one of her full-length novels! She's got the knack of sweeping me away into the story, the words chosen building a world around me that kept me enthralled.

I was smitten with Quinn from the minute I met him; despite his grieving the loss of his best friend and partner he was still making me laugh. And then when Quinn met Maria? Ohhh! His presence continued to fill the room - all manly and bossy and larger than life. Maria quickly learned just what kind of man she tangled with and gave as good as she got - she was no fainting flower - and I loved it! The sparks kept sizzling between them. It was a pleasure experiencing them falling in love and honoring a beloved friend's request in more ways than one.

Even though the stories are different, in my mind's eye, I kept picturing Clint Eastwood's Two Mules for Sister Sarah while I was with Quinn and Maria -- the hardened man with the nun, the setting, the quips, the intrigue/mystery/danger, the soundtrack -- it still all kinda worked together to bring this story even more to life.

Guarding Her Heart by Livia J Washburn

23925539

Guarding Her Heart is an adventurously charming fast-movin' little story that keeps you smiling from beginning to end. Provin' how captivating a Texas Ranger can be, Grant doesn't lack in the sweepin' me off my feet department... er... sweeping Julia off her feet. haha! Julia owns a essence that will serve her well in her future as Grant's wife. I love how despite her need to be protected, she can surprise you with her spirit - exactly what a man like Grant needs and wants in his life.

If you're looking for an hour or less read to fully experience, grab this story!!

Lassoing A Mail-Order Bride anthology

22460984    25969655    26122675

This is a perfect weekend read. All 4 stories are easily read in an hour or two, so you can have time to fit in a full story and get all the feel goods out of it!

These Rough Dreams by Cheryl Pierson
Oh!!! I think I have a new favorite Cheryl Pierson short story!!!! (I say this often! lol) Johnny Rainbolt swept me away just like any worthy hero should.

I adored how Gabby and Johnny found each other, and by taking advantage of the situation given, determined to give each other the best of themselves. Their relationship was an answer to prayer neither even knew to ask for. They were both open and accepting and honest from the start with each other, which allowed for some easy moments before greater trials arrived.

I happy-sighed alot through this story and couldn't have wished for a better way for their dreams to come true.

Her Hurry up Husband by Tanya Hanson

What happens when best laid plans get tossed out the window and a better future is waiting to be claimed? Well, you get to experience Elspeth and Hezekiah's storybook ending.

Elspeth thought she lost her happily ever after and was just hoping for some sort of respectable solution. She had the grit and determination to do what she believed was best. Hezekiah was feeling pressured to start a family of his own, and decided he's gonna do it his way and sent off for a mail order bride. He had such a gentle heart to go with his protective nature.

Both have their own ideas of what the future holds, but maybe there could be something better then they could have ever planned for. Themes of trust, honesty, and acceptance make this a story to enjoy and fall on love with.

A Permanent Woman by Kaye Spencer

I absolutely love A Permanent Woman!! Tessa and Simon both had some unique circumstances they were dealing with and found the ideal solution with each other. Their meeting had me laughing and smiling and falling in love with them. Simon and Tessa quickly figured out how much they needed each other and built a new family together. When the storms came that should have destroyed their world, they instead discovered their love and need for each other could survive the past. I also love that being older characters (in their 40s) brought a refreshing point of view and proves that a happily-ever-after can come at any age.

The Big Uneasy by Kathleen Rice Adams
Secrets, secrets, and more secrets!! Boy did those skeletons rattlin' in everyone's closets make a racket! I loved watching how everything unfolded and the sweet attraction between Amon and Josephine grow into something from sparks to meant-to-be. With the mystery behind Josephine's past so carefully hidden and the Dumont's family secrets quickly unraveling, you're left wondering what's really going to happen. One of my new favorite short stories!!

Even if you're not a fan of anthologies, or even if you just want to read one of these stories and skip the rest (but... they're all beautiful, so hopefully you don't!) you don't want to miss out on this collection of stories!

Rescuing Raven by Jacqui Nelson

Rescuing Raven Book Cover

Lonesome Hearts Series #4
(currently only available in the Wild Deadwood Tales anthology)

Loved getting to catch up with an adult Charlie Jennings (who we first met in one of my favorite Oregon Trail stories:  Between Heaven and Hell) and seeing how he grew up.  With a handful of excitement and a dash of suspense and a heaping dollop of sweetness, I was whisked away into an endearing story, falling in love with Charlie and Raven as they found, rescued, and claimed the other.

This is a delightful addition to Jacqui Nelson's Lonesome Hearts series.

Walk the Promise Road by Anne Schroeder

39908989

Take a journey along the Oregon Trail and discover a piece of our American history in a new way. Walk the Promise Road reads almost like a journal that has been reformatted into an educational storybook with a splash of a love story. The meticulous work that Anne Schroeder put into the story to make us feel all the trials and hardships along with the moments of joy and relief really shine through.

Mary, when this is done we will have made a part of history. Your journal will be read by your children and theirs. Lives will be changed because of what we did out here. A new country will be formed. Have you thought about that?

While I've always had a special fondness of Oregon Trail stories, Lucas and Mary's story has something different with how the everyday events and unique trials and adventures are brought to life. Traveling westward to settle new lands definitely wasn't a glamorous expedition. I think I was just as relieved as the emigrants to finally arrive in Oregon City and find a soothing place to be restored and settled!

Maybe the trail is like life itself. If you knew what was in store up ahead, you might not even have the nerve to start, but having no choice, you do your best; and in the end, you triumph through your own grit.

Much Ado About Mail-Order Brides by Jacquie Rogers

Much Ado About Mail-Order Brides (Hearts of Owyhee Book 6) by [Rogers, Jacquie]

What an entertaining and amusing story!  I had so much fun reading about Bram and Mellie's journey to get their much deserved happily-ever-after.

Poor Bram has it all figured out... he thinks at least.  And then things go downhill quickly with all his best laid plans.  Mellie thought she had everything she needed to be happy, but when Bram walked in the door, her plans got rocked as well!

I loved how Bram acted with everything he was dealing with, and how he juggled pursuing Mellie and handling the mail-order brides respectfully.  Mellie melted my heart with how she was as a mama and how she took whatever Bram gave her and treasured it.

If you want a book to laugh with and a hea that just melts your heart and makes you smile from deep down, you don't want to miss this story!

Blurb:
Three mail-order brides, but his heart belongs to another. What’s a man to do?

A man with a plan
Blacksmith Bram McKinnon always has a plan.  Now that he’s turning 30, it’s time to marry, so to check that off his list, he orders a bride.  Unbeknownst to him, his mother and sister also order brides for him and all three show up!  Now his perfect plan goes up in smoke, and what’s worse, the cute waitress at the new café sets his heart aflutter.  She’s the one he wants, but with three brides already in line to share his bed, how can he convince himself to listen to his head and not his heart?

A woman with a past
Café owner Mellie Emerson long ago escaped the traps of young love and has established a comfortable living for herself and her two boys. The last thing she needs is Bram turning her inside out and waking up a passion she doesn’t want to feel. But every time he comes into her café, her heart betrays her good sense. When a man from her past shows up who knows her deepest darkest secret, she fears he’ll ruin all she has worked to hide. Can Mellie trust Bram enough to protect her from the past and not break her heart in the future?

Join Bram in his quest to find the perfect wife in the sixth book of the Hearts of Owyhee series!

Night Shift by Carey Decevito

37208914

a stalker/serial killer bad guy.... (and a pov to give your skin the itchy-crawlies)
a hot-cop single father.... (and the bossiness, possessiveness, protectiveness, gentleness, and swoony-presence that goes hand in had with him)
a darlin' little girl... (and she steals your heart!)
a sweet girl-next-door damsel.... (who has the inner strength to survive whatever's thrown at her, and yet the soft vulnerability that you just can't help but want to protect her)

I'm SO lovin' this story!!

I reached out to some friends, searching for a serial killer book and I'm so thankful when Night Shift was suggested to me!! Its got the bad-guy story line I was wanting, the kind of heroine and hero I adore, just scary enough to freak me out a little (but not leave me paranoid... maybe...), but yet it was an easy read to just truly enjoy!

Love At Last by Claudia Connor

39028282

Oh!! Claudia Connor has a knack for gifting us with a story that starts at the beach and ends just as beautiful in real life (think, Worth the Fall). I fell in love quickly with this sweet, adorable story and it just kept getting stronger through to the end. I loved how Deacon was as a father and how he refused to give up on Clare. I loved Clare's heart and how she was willing to take a chance on Deacon no matter how much she was scared to.

If you love the easy kind of read but still has some good depth to it, if you love single-daddy story lines, if you need that sweet kinda book to get over a book hangover with (like I did!) this is one you want to grab and enjoy!
