Review: Code Name: Nina's Choice

Code Name: Nina's Choice Code Name: Nina's Choice by Natasza Waters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

2019 reread
I'd forgotten just how much I adored Nina and Mace's story, so hot and real and intense on the feels.

Mace is all alpha delicious with how he loves on his girls and how he risks everything for them. Nina is amazing with her devotion and loyalty and heart.

Loved how family was shown, and how family is built.

Happy sigh, and I'm moving onto the next....

2014
Code Name Nina's Choice has easily become another one of my top favorite military romance books!! So far, Natasza Waters has rocked each one of her Warrior's Challenge books and I have faith she won't stop throughout the rest of the series! Her books definitely have a more realistic feel to them (which is such a welcome change from fiction, and yet sometimes is laughingly annoying how real it is! I love the contrast!)

CNNC has a different feel from the first two books. The first two had more action adventure - this one dealt with more relationships and the challenges both the warriors and their families/loved ones face when trying to build those relationships. Although there is some fun adventure mixed in towards the end (and if you listen to her playlist for this book (http://voicebetweenthelines.com/music...), I was totally hearing the US Navy Tribute song as the soundtrack during the action scenes!) I enjoyed getting to meet back up with Thane and Kayla as well as get to know Tinman better (EEK! I am already falling in love with Tinman and am so excited that his book is next and it should be here soon!!!)

Nina impressed me with her unwavering faith and devotion to Mace. Mace impressed me with his strength and stubbornness and love for Nina and her daughter Gabriella. I could feel the tight-knit brotherhood between the SEAL team and appreciated seeing just how deep their love for each other ran.

If you like military stories that have more grit and depth and real to them, if you like romance, and if you like action you will enjoy this series! I definitely recommend it!!

The Slow Burn by Kristen Ashley

The Slow Burn
I can't even..... just struggling for words. This story, no, this two book series, just shook me. Complete and utter beauty, from page one to the end. Slow Burn came to me at the perfect time when I was needing it. And I know that makes it all the more adored.

I experienced all the feel goods I've come to expect from a KA story - every emotion and heart string was expertly touched.

So much heart, family, love, passion, devotion, respect, compromise, loyalty. So many treasured nuggets of life lessons that I see already reflected in my life story, and others I want to embrace more.

The Hookup and Slow Burn both have treasured pieces of my heart, and a permanent place on my re-read and re-breathe the beauty shelf.

SEAL Out of Water by Abbie Zanders

SEAL Out of Water

I loved Gabe and Victoria's story! Sexy older man, intriguing older lady (oh wait, she's my age... sexy young-feeling lady, too! lol), slow burn, steamy connection, crazy twists, ice-cube drippin' moments, and jaw dropping shocks. Definitely a story that keeps you coming back to get more!

This was my first into to Abbie Zander's stories and I'd like to experience more of her worlds -especially the one she tied into this one.

Broken Halo by Brynne Asher

When you pick up this book, be prepared to have your heart twisted and shattered, and then so sweetly and carefully pieced back together more beautiful than before - think kintsugi!

So much of Trig and Ellie's story hit my heart deeply and I felt everything they did, from the pain and confusion and frustration to the relief and peace and happy moments. Trig was amazing with his bad@$$ self in a suit. Loved his confidence, his drive, his way with Ellie (and then with her family). Ellie - you could feel so much of her struggle and pain, how much she was in desperate need of someone to have her back, front, and all over. I wanted to jump into the book and wrap her up in cotton and save her myself. Good thing Trig was better at it and already there. I loved her heart, her passion, her strength.

Another thing that shone through was the depth of love shown from so many people and places, and just what family really means.

I also gotta say - I stinkin' loved whenever Eli and Jen showed up on the pages!

So grab this book and be ready to experience twist and turns, heartache and heart-melting, and a beautiful story that will give you the best kind of book hangover.

Beyond the Limit by Cindy Dees

I was blown away with how much I enjoyed this story -- so much so, once I started I kept going till I was done late last night!

It's always been an intriguing consideration for me, working through the feelings, beliefs, reality, and politics of women in special forces/front lines of combat. I appreciated how the author dealt with everything, and how we got multiple views and opinions - and we see how the characters worked through their opinions - specifically watching Griffin sort through things and Sherri proving herself (and I'll be honest - I was in awe of how she dealt with everything tossed at her).

I enjoyed watching the heat build between Sherri and Griffin - from insta-attraction to head-over-heals - it felt real and raw and honest, even with the struggle to express it or understand exactly how to balance the desires with responsibilities. I also loved seeing the respect that grew, not only between Sherri and Griffin, but between the Reaper Team, the other women trainees, and the SEAL community (instructors, fellow team mates, etc.) Something about the SEAL family keeps me coming back for more. I also loved the glimpse into the raw and realities of being a special operator - just what it takes to make it, what you're willing to sacrifice, and the dichotomy between your head and heart, the adrenaline highs and the heart-shattering lows.

Beyond the Limit is the kind of story that will capture your attention and drag you along in a thought-provoking journey, delivering not only a well-earned happily-ever-after, but a greater appreciation for the realities of the special few warriors who live out "the only easy day was yesterday".

Her Loyal SEAL by Caitlyn O'Leary

Her Loyal SEAL

This is a sweet and interesting hea for Clint and Lydia. Some twists, some steam, a couple surprising allies, and a whole lot of family - whether by blood or choice - all adds up to an enjoyable story.
